Healthcare Providers, regardless of their tax status, must comply with local, state, and federal regulatory rules for all aspects of their business and clinical operations. With as much as 22% of the industry’s cost structure consumed by regulation and compliance management (e.g., FDA, SOX), solutions must reduce the risk of a negative audit or interrupted funding by exceeding legislative and regulatory compliance requirements while contributing to the facility’s financial stability and bottom line.

Consolidation Value
The advent of Integrated Delivery Networks (IDN), Integrated Health Networks (IHN) and Hospital/Health Systems (HHS) is resulting in fewer physical facilities but greater control of market share and ancillary services. The actual number of acute hospital facilities has decreased 7% in 20 years, while the number of ancillary facilities (e.g., rehab, ambulatory outpatient services) has increased tenfold. Solutions must, therefore, be scalable to enable medical service expansion into the community and must be manageable to address the increasingly disparate geographic needs of the provider’s business and clinical network.

The focus on patient safety is always key, as is the ongoing requirement to improve cost reduction, productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency at all levels of the business and clinical enterprise.
